Pretty freaking awesome. When Justin moved out to Idaho I started checking into some of his work. I waited a while before paying a visit. I had an old tattoo I wanted covered and had an idea of what. Justin was fantastic and helping decide what to fix it with. Crazy deal was after first session we were going to add another idea, the day before my appt he sends a screen shot of an idea he seen... I had same screen shot saved to see if the idea was possible. 3 tattoo sessions later and COMPLETELY in love with it. Still have more to add but have NO complaints. Justin has a super light touch, super quiet machine and a very enthusiastic attitude. If your skin is your canvas story, you won't regret Justin's added art to it!

Justin Abel Art Tatoo and Piercing Shop EARNED the 5 Star rating - It was NOT just given!!!
I DO NOT generally give out an excellent scores, as I am very critical of my reviews since Others May base their decisions on what I write ........
A bit winded? YES!! BUT for VERY GOOD reason! I have 2 reviews - #1 - Justin, as an artist and #2 - The tatoo shop/Tatoo experience w/ Sydney and Justin.
Check out the website, Facebook page and Instagram.

#1 - Justin's Portraits (pure raw talent)
The first time I contacted Justin (via facebook) was in response to his artistic talent in portraits. After reviewing his extensive portfolio, I am requesting several realistic family portraits to be created from individual photos. This will feel a void that I have been searching for for over a year due to the sudden death of my mom. He will create a family photo with her in it..... something we were planning to do before she passed. He is hands down the only artist that I has seen that captures the essence of his subjucts and can portray it in his masterpieces! I can't wait to see the end result of the portraits he will create for me. If you doubt me, go to his website, facebook, page and/or just walk into his Tatoo shop and see for yourself. Justin is truly gifted.
I have attached a few of his drawings that were my inspiration for allowing him to bring to life a portrait that would otherwise not exist. You can see for yourself how talented he is. In my next review of the his tatoo shop, I will go into my face to face communication with him.
#2 - Tatoo Experience at the Justin Abel Art Tatoo shop with Justin and Sydney.
My son's girlfriend was getting a tatoo in town and I was bring my son out to see her on our way home (midnight-ish). At that time I had no idea of who's shop it was and walked in thinking we'd hang out for a bit and head home.
Walking into Justin Abel Art Tatoo shop, we were greeted immediately and was welcomed into a very relaxing and comfortable environment. We were invited into the area where she was getting her tattoo done by Sydney, one of his apprentices. There were several things that I noticed about the shop that pleased me but the most immediate/important thing that I noticed was how immaculate and sterile the Establishment was. There was a strong sense of keeping the sterile areas uncompromised, ensuring that everything that went in and out of that environment was resterilized. With a strong medical background and wanting to ensure the establishment was ideal for any tattoo to be done....especially my son's gf, Rhyan - I was extremely pleased and could not find one issue with cross-contamination or unsterile products/area....... and I really was looking. Sydney was already halfway done with the Rhyan's tattoo when we arrived. We were greeted again as we walked into the area where the tattoo was being created. Sydney paused for a pleasant greeting and to ensure that we were comfortable. She was personable and professional. She seemed to have an amazing rapport with Rhyan, as they had an amazing dialogue, talking her through every stage of the tattoo and exactly what was being done. She was absolutely relaxed and didn't seem in any way anxious or distressed, which is honestly what I had expected while getting her first tattoo. Sydney and Justin also had an amazingly clear dialogue going throughout the tattooing process. Understanding that she was an apprentice, Justin's mentoring/teaching style with a wonderful balance of giving her the creative space and guidance needed for success. I loved that she asked questions and requested assistance on a particular technique she was still learning. I felt it showed great integrity as an artist to know her strengths and weaknesses. Sydney was extremely receptive with all the guidance she was given, as it clearly identified through her work.
As she continued to work on the tattoo, I took a stronger notice to all the freehand artwork that was frame throughout establishment. It was amazingly familiar to me and once I saw Justin signature on each of them, I realized that this was the Justin that I had been speaking to in regards to my family portraits. I was then able to talk to him face-to-face to see if we were truly on the same page, and understanding my vision with the portraits. He was extremely easy to talk, quite knowledgeable, and showed empathy in our conversation. Not only did I get to see more extensive pieces that he had in his shop but I also learned his backstory. Many may say that may not influence someone's passion but I would have to disagree. I believe that his passion for creating a better future drives him to put his heart and soul into each creation, whether it's on paper or skin. One of the other major factors that people may look over is the mentor and Apprentice relationship. Knowing that he had an amazing ability to communicate with his staff in a way that they understood and was able to restate certain things in a different way if it wasn't picked up initially, gives me a better understanding of how he and I would work on the portraits that I will be having him create. These portraits have been on my mind and I did not come to the decision to request a services overnight. I have seen hundreds and hundreds (if not more) of artists that have submitted work for me to gain my business.
He has been the only one that has both the undisputable talent and compassion to understand what he is creating. It's not just simply a sketch, it will be a family portrait that will live on beyond my years. The only thing that needs to be done at this point is to sit down with pictures in hand and go over our visions. At that point it's simply just giving him the go ahead. As you can see from his artwork attached, I have nothing to worry about once it's in his hands.
As we connected over the portraits that he will be doing, he was still engaged with the tattoo being done without hovering, as we were also able to see the natural talent that Sydney had. She was just entering a new tattooing Style for this one. I love the way that she did not rush and took all the time that was needed to complete this beautiful artwork on Rhyan. The communication flow between them until the tattoo was completed. I was blown away by how she brought Rhyan's vision into an amazing masterpieces on her body. The tattoo did take longer than expected but it turned out absolutely beautiful and most importantly she loved it, which is truly the one that needs to be pleased since it will be on their body permanently. It was also an extra special treat to witness since it was her first tattoo!!
Both Sydney and Justin went over some guidelines for tattoo care and gave her paperwork and the necessary items to care for her tattoo. They stress the importance of following the rules to ensure the absolute best outcome for this new amazing piece of art on her body! ...... again loving how they stressed the medical implications that could come along with if it was not cared for properly.
Once we got to the register for payment, I was again Blown Away by the cost of such a beautiful piece of art done by The Talented Apprentice, Sidney. Now I know that it may be pricier than some of the bottom of the barrel tattoo parlors BUT I can't stress more about "GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Once in a blue moon you'll get lucky at those type of places but more often than not you will either have a horrible piece of crap on your body, that later needs to be fixed/removed, not to mention the health risks that you put yourself into.
Now, I will have to admit that I DO NOT have any tattoos and have no intentions on getting one. I figured if I have issues with committing to paint on a wall, I have no business getting a tattoo on my body.....and Yes, I'm over 40 and I'm considered more conservative. So that should cover all the Curiosity questions and show you how powerful this review actually is!
With that said, I have an amazing respect for tattoo artists that create the most mind-blowing masterpieces on others. I've sat in at least 20+ different tattoo parlors all over the US and abroad w/ friends and family getting theirs. I am also the type of person that has talked my friends / family out of getting their tattoos at certain locations due to the cleanliness, sterilization and/or sketchy Behavior of the location that we were in. If I feel that there is a risk involved in their health or their quality of work, I will absolutely speak up.
STILL WITH ME???
I say AGAIN - I DO NOT just hand out 5 STAR reviews! Especially with something so serious and rather permanent art form!!!!
Justin Abel Art Tatoo Shop EARNED the 5 Star rating - It was NOT just given!!!
Choosing a "tattoo shop" for the correct reasons is insanely important! It should be as sterile as a a surgical room (most importantly), YOU should LOVE what is drawn up for you, AND have an amazing rapport with your tattoo artist. If not, you CAN walk out!! Do not Settle! Ask questions and if you are not comfortable get out!! Don't let your inner desire for getting it over power your safety and the quality of the work!!! Do not Settle!

Back on 3/4/2018, my daughter and i came in to get matching tattoos done by Dan. We absolutely love them! One of the tattoos I got that day was a breast cancer ribbon for a dear friends mom who passed away the night before. Dan knew who it was so it was a great honor for him to do it. The shop was comfy and I loved looking at all the reptiles! The needles that Dan used were the most comfortable needles I have ever been tattooed with. I have a large piece on my leg that needs to be covered up so I can't wait to start coming up with ideas for that one! I will definitely be back to see Dan!
